Transitional Kindergarten

At Good Shepherd Lutheran School, we understand that some children may be academically ready for kindergarten, but may not be turning 5 before September 2nd. Many times these students may not be developmentally ready for the traditional classroom environment, or may just need a little more time to play. That's why we offer transitional kindergarten (TK). Our developmental TK program utilizes the same curriculum as our kindergarten program, and follows the California State standards. The class is even smaller than our traditional kindergarten class, allowing for some students to spend more time on early lessons when needed, while allowing students that are able, to move forward. Students are evaluated at the end of the year; and the teacher, parents and administration work together to determine placement for the following year.
